Our commitment
Meadowcrest Family Physicians believes that every patient — regardless of ability — deserves a clear, welcoming, and usable experience online. We are committed to making meadowcrestfp.com accessible to people with the widest possible range of abilities, including those who use assistive technologies like screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, and alternative input devices.
Conformance target
This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the international standard referenced by U.S. federal accessibility regulations, including Section 508 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
What we’ve done
The site was built with accessibility considered from the very first decisions about typography, color, and structure. Specific measures include:
Color & visual design
- All body text meets or exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Information is never conveyed by color alone — it is paired with text labels, icons, or shape changes.
- Content remains readable when zoomed to 200% without horizontal scrolling.
Keyboard navigation
- The entire site can be navigated using only a keyboard, in a logical and predictable order.
- A “Skip to main content” link appears at the top of the page when using Tab, allowing keyboard users to bypass the navigation.
- All interactive elements show a clearly visible focus indicator (a gold outline) when reached by keyboard.
Screen reader & assistive technology support
- The page is built with semantic HTML elements — headings, lists, navigation, articles — so screen readers can announce structure correctly.
- Meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are explicitly marked as decorative so they aren’t announced unnecessarily.
- Interactive components like the photo gallery include ARIA labels and live announcements of state changes.
Motion & animation
- The photo gallery auto-rotation can be paused at any time with an on-screen control.
- If you have enabled the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system, the gallery will not auto-advance.
- No content flashes more than three times per second, in line with WCAG 2.3.1 (Three Flashes or Below).
Known limitations
While we work continually to improve accessibility, some areas may not yet meet our target standard:
- Some third-party services we link to — including our Patient Portal, online Bill Pay, and the Careers listings — are hosted by outside vendors. Their accessibility is governed by those vendors’ own standards, which may differ from ours.
- Some older PDF documents available on request may not be fully accessible. If you need a document in an alternative format, please contact us and we will provide an accessible version.
Feedback & alternative access
If you encounter any accessibility barrier on this site, or if you need information in an alternative format — large print, accessible PDF, audio, or another format that works for you — please let us know. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.
